Shell Olympus Project
Polar began work on the derrick erection at Lee C. Moore performing the pre-assembly. We then traveled to Baytown TX to begin final derrick erection. While in Baytown we found many issues with non-conforming materials as well as items being added by the end customer. We quickly notified the customer of problems and challenges associated with the add-ons and non-conforming materials so that the project would continue to progress as smoothly as possible. The rig has since been moved to the Kiewit Shipyard located in Ingleside TX where we are performing the final punch list items before the rig moves off-shore and begins drilling.
PDC Santa Ana DGD Upgrade
Polar began planning with Chevron and PDC in October of 2011 the state of the art DGD Upgrade that Chevron has introduced to the industry. It is a duel gradient drilling system that allows more production in less time. Polar has provided riggers, welders and fitters to install the vast amount of piping that is required for this new technology. Being new there has been ups and downs with the upgrade installation but together with the help of both crew personnel, management, and engineering of PDC, Chevron and Polar Rig Specialties, the project is moving smoothly to a safe and worthwhile end.

This rig was in Brownsville to major upgrades to the hull and drilling package. The rig has since then been completed is currently off-shore drilling.
